Don't forget that all peas make edible shoots as well. When the weather is still too cold for full-size plants or for making peas, you can harvest the top 4" or so of the growing tips. They are delicious in salads or cooking. It works best to have a separate planting for repeated harvest of young tips, but you can snip an occasional tip off of main crops as well.
