I was astounded at how easy these were to grow, and how high-quality the heads were. My favorite fall vegetable, and for crunchy, juicy, mild salads all winter. You can see in the picture that they had a nice shape--what you can't see is how heavy and tight they were. So much for that rumor that open-pollinated Nappa is hard to grow. Not at all. The secret is to grow it in the fall and very early spring.(Start in late winter, under cover if need be). Once the days get past the equinox, it gets harder to get it to head up--like spinach, it is very day-length-sensitive. Although it's nice as a looser head too. Of course, if you like to ferment things, this is the classic kim-chee cabbage.60-75 days 80 seeds
