Easy to grow, and a good companion plant for vegetables. I find Thai basil more adaptable to our cold nights and more disease-resistant than other basils. Try it in the corners of your veggie beds.This is an outstanding ornamental edible/pollinator plant, with glossy green leaves, deep purple flower stems and bracts, and lavender flowers. I recommend it for tubs on the patio, or a pot in a sunny window, in addition to garden accents. Used in many cuisines, from Thailand to Vietnam, India and even Eastern Africa, this is also a lovely tea herb, with a spicy sweet flavor that has overtones of anise.
