Elecampane Seeds
Elecampane has long been used to strengthen and heal the lungs. Herbalists consider it a potent antibacterial/anti-inflammatory both internally and externally, for coughs, chest infections, asthma, sore throat, and skin problems. Simmer roots in honey for cough syrup. Also called Elf Dock. Striking flower stalks above a rosette of huge leaves much like comfrey, from the 2nd year on. Great planted with perennial flowers, herbs, berries, rhubarb, or among trees. An essential and easy to grow medicinal herb, which pollinators love as well, making it welcome in orchards and in the perennial section of the garden. Harvest roots the 2nd or 3rd year. For serious root production, plant in an area that can be dug up every other year: a section of the garden or a raised bed. Elecampane, astragalus, angelica, echinacea, and similar herbs all are harvested as 2nd-year roots. I have used large tubs for these also. 30 seeds
