Danish Ballhead Cabbage
Heirloom cabbage for cool storage and sauerkraut as well as fresh eating. Long-keeping, split-resistant and dependable. Large, round heads are firm, and unequaled for their keeping qualities. If you want to store a lot of winter food, either as kraut or in a cool cellar or shed, this is the cabbage you want. Allow about 110 days from transplant, and give them the space they need to head up--about 24" in the row. Bred in Denmark before refrigeration existed, so it really had to store well.
