Showy Milkweed
Loved by butterflies and bees; required host plant for monarch butterflies. Drought-tolerant.I don't know why this seed is so hard to find, because it is native to the entire United States and much of Canada west of the Mississippi. Beautiful pale pink stars really sparkle against a dark pink background. You can see a bee in Karen Morton's picture here. Silvery-green leaves set off the flowers and enable monarch caterpillars to survive. "Showy milkweed's tough, extensive root system, drought tolerance, and minimal nutrient requirements make it a good species for stabilizing and restoring degraded areas." according to the USDA. (That root system means it may be too aggressive next to more polite flowers.) It is a threatened species in some states, like the butterflies it nurtures. Asclepias speciosa 20 seeds
