Tree Collard Cuttings
A delicious perennial vegetable, more tender than regular kale or collards. It will take some frost, but usually doesn't survive if the ground freezes. Hardy in zones 8-10. May be hardy with protection in zone 7. Makes a long stalk with purple-green leaves on top. The leaves turn deep purple in winter, and become sweeter. This treasure has been passed from gardener to gardener by cuttings for at least 200 years. Here's a video about them, made by the man who grows the tree collards we sell. (It mentions Bountiful Gardens, which is out of business. We are carrying on many of Bountiful Gardens' varieties, including the tree collards.)
We supply 2 cuttings and a spare, ready for you to root at home. They are cut from the plant to order, and shipped in damp paper to keep them hydrated. Each week's orders are collected and cut on Monday morning, so they get through the postal system early in the week. When you receive them, plant them in a pot right away. Instructions are included.
