Pest-Fighting Annual Flower Mix
Type: annual Height: tall (plants vary from 1 to 5 feet)
Seeds for many different flowers that attract beneficial insects, mixed in a single packet. There are no perennials with permanent roots that would make sowing the next crop difficult, so it can go right into the vegetable beds if desired. Bloom from late spring until frost. Good as a border at one edge of the garden, or in patches around the garden. Or plant a few seeds at the ends or corners of vegetable beds, in large containers, in awkward areas of the yard, etc.
For best results, combine the contents of the packet with 1 cup of dry soil, mix very well, and sprinkle evenly over a weeded, composted, and raked bed. Rake in or sprinkle mulch very lightly, and water very well. Contains at least 20 varieties, as recommended by experts on beneficial insects. Typical blooms include bright flowers like zinnias, cosmos, cornflowers and poppies as well as small flowers like alyssum. All attract predator insects. Covers 100 square feet.
