Rattlesnake Pole Snap Bean
An outstanding heirloom pole snap bean, producing juicy, sweet 7" beans all summer. Outstanding flavor. Unfazed by high heat, they will set beans in 100-degree weather. Round pods are medium green, and brushed with purple streaks which disappear when cooked, a handy indicator for blanching. Stays stringless for a long time, until quite large. I find these are less heat-sensitive and have a longer picking window than most heirlooms. Beans are easy to find in the foliage, and easy to pick. Great fresh, canned, frozen, or left on the vine to make soup beans. Healthy, vigorous vines to about 8'. The dry beans are tan with a brown "rattlesnake" pattern. Excels on sandy light soils which have trouble holding on to water and nutrients; this makes them a good choice for containers and raised beds. 60 days.
