Zeolights Calendula
A new color in calendulas, the background is a pale-to-bright peachy pink or apricot. Petal backs are deep maroon, and a golden glow suffuses the center of the blooms. "Fantastically beautiful, a boiling complex of colors." Who would have imagined the homely "pot marigold" could look so exotic? I had to add Zeolights and Sunshine Flashback Calendulas to our website at the same time. If Sunshine is an embodiment of simplicity and artless charm, Zeolights embodies the exotic, mysterious, and dazzling. I think everyone's life needs both. Bring on the spangles! Edible and loved by pollinators, just like its more homespun cousins.
AKA Triangle Flashback, this is another of farmer/breeder Frank Morton's great new takes on familiar flowers. An OSSI-pledged open source variety. Calendulas make good cut flowers, BUT they close up in dim light, so put your vase in a sunny window or under a light. 30 seeds
