Beautiful in the garden, or in a bowl, these are just what many of us have been looking for--a juicy, thick-walled pepper for fresh eating and cooking with some heat but not too much. (a bit less heat than a jalapeño, mostly in the seeds and ribs--2,000–5,000 Scoville Units.) Black when immature, the 2½"–long conical peppers ripen to lustrous garnet. Mild juicy thick-walled flesh runs with a cherry-red juice when cut. Not the typical thin-walled hot pepper for drying, these would be great for pickling or roasting instead. Some folks take advantage of the gorgeous color and succulent texture to make candied slices for the holidays. 65 days
