Perennial with culinary uses like a leaf celery but with a sweet, aromatic, more complex flavor. Exceptionally good in spaghetti sauce, hamburgers, and other meat dishes, to add a new depth of flavor to familiar dishes without overpowering them. Flowers draw many beneficial insects. Herbal use is like Angelica, with anti-nausea, anti-flatulent, relaxing, and anti-inflammatory qualities. Sometimes called Western Dong Qui; roots are used as a women's herb in the same way. Plant into cool soil in early spring or even fall in mild climates. Likes some shade and a moist, foresty soil, so work in compost and place where it gets afternoon shade. 50 seeds
