Front Range Onion
Easy to grow, easy to store, and just the right size. People have asked me for an intermediate-day storage onion, and here is a really high-quality answer. Front Range is a reliable, heavy producer of 2 to 2 1/2" round yellow onions with beautiful glowing golden skin. The tight wrappers, great neck closure and dense, solid flesh means they are exceptionally long keepers. (The onions in the photo were stored six months in a cool shed, with no special equipment.) This replaces New York Early, and is adapted to a wider geographic range. Intermediate-day onion, adapted to areas north of a line from Santa Barbara CA to the North/South Carolina border. Bred for dry climate and organic culture by long-time seedsman and produce grower Rich Pecoraro on Abbondanza Farm near Boulder, Colorado. The seed we are offering was grown with less water than I would have believed possible by Steve Peters at Welten Farm, Gilroy, CA. 150 seeds
