Beet, Early Yellow Intermediate Mangel
French heirloom from the 1800's. Mangels are huge beets--related to sugar beets--that are easy to harvest and store for the winter. This variety was develped especially for tenderness and flavor as a vegetable. It gives a tremendous amount of food value in a small space, and keeps well in a root cellar, cold garage, or in the ground. Most strains of this little-known vegetable have become crossed over the years. Our seed comes from a pure strain preseved over the years by Golden Rule Garden and the Jeavons Center. Grown by Golden Rule from hand-selected roots.
