Horehound
I love plants with fragrant leaves that repel pest and aren't eaten by deer, especially if the leaves have silver-gray tones. I love drought-tolerant plants that can live on the edges of the garden with little care. I love plants that attract pollinators. As a sufferer with asthma, I love plants that soothe or strengthen the respiratory system. So horehound has a welcome place in my garden. It's one of those plants that you can plant in the background and forget while it quietly does a lot of work for you. Traditionally simmered in honey or syrup for coughs, or made into cough crops. The essential oil is said to contain potent antimicrobial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. It has also traditionally been used as a flavoring for ale. Naturalizes easily and may spread, though germination can be slow and erratic. Best when direct sown in early spring or early fall. 50 seeds
