Sky blue flowers are followed by a yield of golden seeds with very high oil content. Golden flax is much milder in flavor than brown flax types. Flax seed is high in omega-3's, and the seeds are added to baked goods and cereals. Ground, they are sometimes used in place of eggs in baking. Flax is also used as a fiber plant--it is made into linen. For fiber use, it's planted very closely to avoid branching--up to 175 plants per square foot. For growing flaxseed, plant at recommended 2-3 seeds per inch in rows 6″to 8" apart. Linum usitatissimum. 200 seeds
