If you like Romano-style green beans, you will love the rich flavor of Scalzo. It produces big yields of slightly-curved, long green beans on vigorous healthy vines. And unlike most green beans, you can enjoy it through the hottest part of the summer. This is a California heirloom, grown for decades by the Montesano family in Calaveras County, CA. Like many Italian varieties, it's a dual purpose wonder, with plump rosy-pink seeds that make good dry beans. I'm grateful to Sarah Kleeger and Andrew Still of Adaptive Seeds in Oregon for making available this great variety, which they received as a wedding favor. Scalzo means "barefoot " in Italian. Vines produce bountifully all season. 1/2 oz packet contains 25-30 very productive seeds.
