Edible native wildflower and perennial vegetable. The young leaves have been an important springtime food for centuries. Sochan is the Cherokee name for this perennial green. It's a large plant to 7' with glossy dark-green leaves and tall stalks of yellow flowers like Black-Eyed Susan, giving it one of its other names, Golden Glow. This is one of the few flowers that bloom profusely in part to full shade. It will also grow in sun, if the soil is moist. Rudbeckia lacinata
