Edible native wildflower and perennial vegetable. The young leaves have been an important springtime food for centuries. Sochan is the Cherokee name for this perennial green. It's a large plant to 7' with glossy dark-green leaves and tall stalks of yellow flowers like Black-Eyed Susan, giving it one of its other names, Golden Glow.
