Zanadoo Sweet Corn
Our sweetest corn. An open pollinated bi-color sweet corn with good ear size, organic adaptation and vigor. About 82 days to maturity with mostly 14 rows of big deep kernels on 7 1/2" long, wide diameter cobs. The combination of white and yellow kernels on the same cob give this corn a very rich flavor in addition to the sweetness. Delicious sugary-enhanced sweet corn is an open-source variety pledged to the Open Source Seed Initiative by organic farmer/breeder Jonathon Spero.
Corns in the supermarket are hybrids. Open-pollinated "Heirloom" corns have a more complex flavor, not so sugary, and a shorter shelf life. For the best eating, watch the ears carefully. When the juice in the kernels is clear, the corn is not ready. When it gets milky, the corn is ready to eat. Pick while juice is milky, not yet pasty. Cook as fast as you can after picking. Yum.
