With the advent of GMO canola and other GMO oil crops, making pure vegetable oil is now an issue for home gardeners and citizens. One piece of good news is that hand-crank, relatively cheap (under $200) and well-made oil presses are now available. The press I am familiar with is the Piteba, imported from Denmark. It will press sunflowers, safflower, poppy seeds, camelina, and others (not olives, unless pitted first)
